Third day in port – we stopped at St Croix in the US Virgin Islands, the last stop in US territory.

After a couple of full on days with the excursion and our self guided San Juan adventure, we decided to have an easier day as it was a much smaller port! Each stop we were able to use the on board app to download a small port map, giving us an idea of how close towns were and when we realised we were right in the middle we decided to just get off the ship and have a good wander.
Only around 1,000 people live in Frederiksted itself, even though it is the only port suitable on the island for cruise ships to dock. This does however mean it is a very quaint, sleepy and gorgeous little port with things to see everywhere you look.

We started by just walking up the sea front, we didn’t really venture off this, and we wandered until we felt we were leaving town a little bit, then headed the other direction. We crossed the street this time so we could stop any any shops and we stumbled upon the most amazing art gallery and shop – Caribbean Museum Centre for the Arts. We seems to be the only people in and the lovely woman running the centre gave us a full tour explaining the history of the building and the town which was truly fascinating. She took us outside which actually was the courtyard for the centres Air B&B rooms!

After this we kept walking and found a few more souvenir shops, diving stores and cafes. We also stopped by the forces memorial, each branch of the forces had their own pillar of memory with plaques dedicated to the lives lost which right on the sea front was a stunning way to remember the fallen.
We also found the town centre clock tower in the middle of their historic district, and not far behind, Fort Frederick, originally built by the Danish to protect their interests in the Caribbean. A bright red building, you can’t miss it on the sea front.

We stopped for a little to call home and check in, before calling it a day and heading back to the ship – however, half way up the dock we spotted two sea turtles chilling out on the waves!
We had a very chilled afternoon in the Glass House again where we grabbed lunch, and I grabbed my kindle and started reading Diving Rivals by Rebecca Ross (review to come)

We also decided to go Glass House for dinner – which to get a table you need to be there before they start seating at 6:30. They are limited on tables so it does fill up very fast and you can be facing over an hours wait otherwise. In an evening it swaps to a Mediterranean theme, serving pasta, pizza and tapas. Our first meal we opted for a share board and then pizza each, which was so good! However also so much food, we honestly struggled, and I was devastated I couldn’t manage the Baileys cheesecake I’d been eyeing up on the menu ALL DAY!

It was also a country themed show in the Broadway Show Lounge, which we stopped by as we do live country music, before heading to the Live Lounge to settle for the evening with Abbie again and The Collective.
After the last set we headed back to the cabin for bed while we sailed onto our next stop.
Join me next time for our stop in Roseau, Dominica where we explore the port area and have some more time exploring the ship
Xoxo
